(March 18, 1936 – February 14, 2015)
Annetta Thompson Ames, “Netta,” our dear mother, grandmother and friend, lost her battle with ALS and died peacefully at her home on February 14, 2015. She left just in time to be with her eternal sweetheart for Valentine’s Day. She was born March 18, 1936, in Elwood, Utah, to Trent Carroll and Annie Elizabeth Grant Thompson. She married Charles “Bud” Ames on July 14, 1957, in the Logan LDS Temple.
Netta was amazing. After losing her husband, to ALS, 10 years ago she has tirelessly given her time to her family, the LDS Church and her community through volunteering at the IHC Hospital and with the DUP. She was devastated after learning in November 2014, that she also had ALS. It took its toll on her very fast. It wasn’t long before she was bedridden, and she lost her ability to speak. However, she never lost her ability to let us know that she loved us. She fought a good fight, and left this world as a warrior for good.
She will be terribly missed by her family: Trent Ames, Jim (Holli) Ames, Carl (Leisa) Ames, Dan (Denise) Ames and Tareisa (Anthony) Ashford; with 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother. Her family was so precious to her.
The family gives their thanks to all of the wonderful caregivers who were with her to the end: Dixie Hospice Care, especially Brittany; wonderful neighbors; friends; sisters and most of all, her nurse “George”, and her daughter-in-law Denise.
Mom, we know you are in a happier place, surrounded by those you love and who love you. May you continue your work in Heaven, as you have done so valiantly here on earth.
